Travis Hunter's GPA at Colorado Emerges Following Heisman Win

Most people think Colorado's two-way star Travis Hunter's biggest question is what position he'll play in the NFL, but it may be what he can't do.

How talented he is on and off the field may not answer this question. Hunter had over 1,100 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns on offense and picked off four passes and broke up 11 on defense.

Off the field, he dominates pick-up basketball, creates content, and always thanks fans. His most impressive achievement may not be his stats or long list of awards, including the Heisman Trophy he won Saturday. Instead, it may be his academic success while juggling all the above.

Hunter was named Academic All-American with a 3.798 cumulative GPA, the program announced this week.

The junior from Suwanee, Georgia, is an anthropology major carrying a 3.798 cumulative GPA," said the release. "In the fall of 2023, Hunter earned a 4.0 GPA and followed that up with a spring 2024 semester GPA of 3.908, earning him first-team All-Academic Team honors."

Hunter was the first Academic All-American to win the Heisman since Tim Tebow in 2007, according to the release. Hunter's academic advisor, LaTonya Watson, said in the release that he works hard in class, despite being known for his athleticism.

Travis brought a champion mindset to Colorado, from football to the classroom, wrote Watson. “With that mindset, he set high goals and standards that motivate him to be his best in school. The Herbst Academic Center staff is proud of Travis's academic and athletic achievements.

Hunter's final game with the Buffs on Dec. 28 was bittersweet because of his lasting impact. The Alamo Bowl will feature him and the No. 23 Buffs against the No. 17 BYU Cougars at 7:30 ET on ABC.

Former No. 1 overall recruit, Heisman winner, and Academic All-American will try to be the first NFL draft pick after that game. Based on his performance, Hunter could accomplish another rare feat normally reserved for quarterbacks, offensive tackles, or pass rushers.
