D Gukesh, the youngest world chess champion, made Rs 11 crore in 17 days.

India has its second chess world champion after Viswanathan Anand. In 138 years of chess, D Gukesh is the youngest world champion. Gukesh won crores of rupees after defeating Ding Liren in the 14th game, making history.

Gukesh earned Rs 20 crores at 18. Within 17 days at the World Chess Championship in Singapore, he earned over Rs 11 crores.

The World Chess Championship's 14th and final game saw D Gukesh defeat China's veteran Ding Liren. Gukesh won 7.5-6.5, making history. This was his final game with black pieces.

Gukesh broke the 22-year-old World Championship record of Russian veteran Garry Kasparov. Chennai native Gukesh trains at Viswanathan Anand's academy.

Gukesh won Rs 11.45 crores and Ding Liren Rs 9.75 crores for becoming world champion. FIDE rules award Rs 1.69 crores per match for final match victories, with the remaining prize money split between the two finalists.

Gukesh won the third, 11th, and 14th matches, earning Rs 5.07 crore. After becoming world champion, he won Rs 11.45 crore.

Media reports say Gukesh had Rs 8.26 crore before his victory, which has now surpassed Rs 20 crore. Gukesh makes money from chess prizes and advertising.

D Gukesh won the world title in 2024. He took three major titles this year. Gukesh played in April's World Championship qualification and Candidates Tournament. The third-youngest player to do so. The tournament was won with a remarkable nine points.

The world's youngest chess grandmaster won the Candidates Tournament at 17. Gukesh represented India at the Budapest Chess Olympiad in September. First-time Olympiad gold medalist India made history.

A stellar performance on Board 1 earned Gukesh the individual gold medal. He won the World Championship in December to complete a hat-trick.

D Gukesh was born in Chennai to Telugu parents on May 29, 2006. Mother Padma is a microbiologist, and father Dr. Rajankant is an ear, nose, and throat surgeon. Gukesh began chess at seven. Gukesh first gained attention in 2015 by winning the Asian School Chess Championship at Under-9.
