Bread stays fresh for seven days longer without mold if you add unexpected item

Sliced bread often stays fresh for several days, although freshly baked bread frequently goes bad within a day. How and where bread is stored affects how long it lasts.

Bread is one of the most wasted foods in the United States, according to a food waste specialist at Too Good To Go. Finding methods to increase its shelf life is therefore crucial, and a cloth bag is the first step in this process.

Cloth bags are the "best" method to store bread, according to the Too Good To Go expert, because they help preserve its qualities. To extend the bread's shelf life by one week, place one potato inside the cloth bag.

The expert gave the following advice: "Keep in mind that newly produced bread cannot breathe if it is kept in an airtight bag.

"To preserve the best possible conservation, you must allow it to breathe. "Storing it in a bread basket or a cloth bag, as mentioned, so that it cools at room temperature is always the best option."

It was advised to keep this loaf in the refrigerator if you have sliced bread, which frequently comes in plastic wrapping. The expert stated: "This way it will last much longer, extending its expiration date."

This technique will lessen the possibility of freezer burn, which could completely destroy the bread. "Once it is fully defrosted, we recommend that you use additional heat in the oven," the food waste specialist went on.

"You'll get a really crispy texture this way. If the bread is dry, you can use a damp cloth or a mist of water to moisten the crust for a few minutes before slicing it.
