How to prepare Amla Candy for the winter

Ingredients 500 grams fresh amla 300-350 grams sugar (adjust to taste) 1 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional, for flavor) A pinch of salt (optional, to enhance sweetness)

Instructions Step 1: Clean and Boil the Amla 1. Wash the amla thoroughly to remove any dirt. 2. Boil enough water in a large pot. 3. Add the amla to the boiling water and let them cook for about 10-12 minutes or until they turn soft. 4. Drain the water and let the amla cool down completely.

Deseed and Segment the Amla 1. Once cooled, gently press the amla to separate them into individual segments. 2. Remove the seeds.

Sweeten the Amla Segments 1. Take the segments and layer them in a large mixing bowl. 2. Sprinkle sugar over each layer. 3. Cover the bowl and let it sit for 24-48 hours, stirring occasionally. The sugar will dissolve and form a syrup as the amla releases its juices.

Dry the Amla Candy 1. Drain the sugar syrup from the amla. You can save this syrup as a refreshing drink. 2. Spread the amla pieces on a clean tray or plate. 3. Sun-dry the pieces for 2-3 days until they are dry but slightly chewy.

Add Flavoring (Optional) 1. Once dried, sprinkle the amla with cardamom powder or a pinch of salt for added flavor. 2. Toss the candy to coat evenly.

Store and Enjoy 1. Store the dried amla candy in an airtight container. 2. Keep it in a cool, dry place, and enjoy your amla candy throughout the winter as a healthy snack.
